Craig Matsuda, a management and communications strategy consultant, is a former senior editor at the Los Angeles Times, where he served in key editor roles for more than two decades in international news, opinion, features and newsroom administration.
In his last post at the paper, he was one of a handful of senior editors responsible for management, staffing and personnel issues, especially staff development, for what was long one of the largest and most influential newsrooms in the U.S.
Previously, he worked at the Denver Post, Miami Herald, Time magazine, Houston Chronicle, Chicago Tribune and Detroit Free Press.
Recent clients include Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Ongo, the Knight Digital Media Center and Southwestern Law School, where he is an adjunct professor.
Matsuda also has taught at the University of Southern California Annenberg's School of Journalism, the Maynard Institute, the American Press Institute and the Poynter Institute. He has been a national and Los Angeles board member of the Asian American Journalists Association, has worked with numerous journalism and news diversity organizations and has helped to launch several lauded online initiatives.
