Joseph Odindo
Director

Joseph Odindo, group editorial director of the Nation Media Group Limited, is one of the most prominent and influential journalists in sub-Saharan Africa.

He oversees all editorial operations of the Nairobi-based Nation Media Group, which encompasses 10 newspapers, two television stations, three radio stations and websites in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

Newspapers include the Daily Nation, Sunday Nation, The EastAfrican (which he launched), Taifa Leo, Taifa Jumapili, and Business Daily; in Tanzania, The Citizen, Mwananchi and Mwanaspoti; and in Uganda, The Monitor.

Previously, Odindo served as the company’s group managing editor and, before that, as managing editor of the Daily Nation, Kenya‘s largest daily newspaper.

Under Odindo’s leadership, the Nation Media Group became the first and longest-serving partner of AFPF, providing his staff with unique opportunities for journalism and management training.

Odindo holds degrees from the University of Nairobi and University of Wales. He also has completed professional education programs at the Harvard Business School and Cambridge University.
