She also assists the executive director with development and fundraising.

Before joining AFPF, Katie completed a master’s degree in European studies from the Universiteit van Amsterdam. From 2004-2005, Katie worked in the field of international education and study abroad at the International Student Exchange Program in Washington, DC. Her first experience abroad was studying in Aix-en-Provence, France in 1997. After earning her bachelor’s degree in British history from the University of the South in Tennessee, she worked as a travel agent in Austin, Texas. In 2002, she returned to France to spend a year teaching English at French elementary schools.

Katie is a native of Charleston, South Carolina and currently lives in Alexandria, Virginia with her husband, John and son, Jack.
