Our seven member Foundation Board of Directors consists of journalists (including a former Friendly Fellow), journalism educators and trainers, a host newsroom mentor, a global development consultant, a former director of the Alfred Friendly Press Fellowships and the Knight International Press Fellowships, and a lawyer. They bring a wide range of skills, energy and ideas to the foundation which, until two years ago, was exclusively directed by the family of Alfred and Jean Friendly. The board, led by Friendly and Smith, concentrates on organization, policy and fund-raising. Advisory Board Chair Ellen Soeteber is an ex-officio member.
