From KC to Kenya - A news blog created by The Kansas City Star through its partnership with AFPF and the Nation Media Group in East Africa.

  • January 5, 2008 - 2007 AFPF mentor and Kansas City Star columnist Rhonda Chriss-Lokeman writes about the state of Kenya after the December elections.

  • January 5, 2008 - 2007 AFPF Fellow Mugumo Munene writes about his personal experience in Nairobi after the elections.

  • January 5, 2008 - 2006 AFPF Fellow Peter Makori writes about the need for compromise in Kenya.

    August 30, 2007 - A panel discussion organized in partnership with Our Voices Together and the International Committee of the National Press Club for the launch of the Safer, More Compassionate World forum series
    During the Final Seminar, the 2007 Fellows from Bangladesh, Brazil, Egypt and Kenya participated in a panel discussion about anti-Americanism in their countries and worldwide, xenophobia in the U.S., the role of media, and the strategies for bridging the gap of understanding between the U.S. and rest of the world.

    August 22, 2007 - Andrews McMeel Universal Foundation helps send a Kansas City Star journalist to provide training in East African newsrooms

    August 21, 2007 - Mike O'Sullivan of Voice of America speaks with 2007 Fellow Amr Emam

    April 26, 2007 - 2007 Fellow from Georgia featured in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer
    AFPF Advisory Committee Member and Seattle P-I Assosiate Publisher Ken Bunting writes a story about the death of President Yeltsin of Russia with the help of 2007 Fellow Nina Akhmeteli from Georgia.

    2006 Fellow from Nepal featured in the North Adams Transcript
    2006 Daniel Pearl Fellow Ghanashyam Ojha was recently featured in the North Adams Transcript. Ojha will spend his fellowship at The Berkshire Eagle, North Adams Transcript and The Advocate. Danny Pearl, the Wall Street Journal's South Asia bureau chief who was kidnapped and killed in Pakistan in 2002, began his career as a reporter at The Berkshire Eagle and the Transcript.
