| 2005 Reflections on American Journalism
Introduction
At the conclusion of the 2005 program, the Fellows were asked to reflect upon their AFPF experience and project how they will share what they've learned once they return home. We asked them to write a report specifying up to three U.S. journalistic practices, standards and values that they learned and would like to share, as well as how they will share them — with both the upper level manager who supported their application and their professional peers.
Specific questions we asked the Fellows to think about:
What have I learned through my participation in AFPF?
Which of those skills/ideas/values would work at home?
How can I convince my bosses that these are useful/productive skills?
How will I successfully share my enthusiasm with my colleagues?
What’s my timetable?
How will I measure success—and how will I celebrate it?
We invite you to read and enjoy these essays. Each offers interesting insight into journalism in the U.S. and abroad, thus providing us with a richer understanding of the world we share.
